My Prosthetic Leg (Bean)

2021-01-25

Hodgson Orthopedic. Got my prosthetic liner, and they made a cast for my first socket.

2021-01-28

My temporary liner holder (for hang drying); a little nicer than
the broom handle I used the first two nights. I have plans to
make a nice one from pvc plastic, so stay tuned for that.

Put in a more durable bulb, and wrapped masking tape on it
as the liner was sticking to it.

2021-02-04

Hodgson Orthotics. Got to try on my first check socket (w/leg and foot). I
managed to take about 20 steps (between the parallel bars).

2021-02-09

Hodgson Orthotics. More test fitting and walking. Now I wait for physio.

2021-03-03

First physiotherapy appointment; let the walking begin.

My prosthetist couldn't make this appointment due to the short
notice, so I had to stop by Hodgson Orthotics in Coquitlam
and pick up my leg.

2021-03-17

Physiotherapy. Got to bring my leg home, so it came to work with me.

Had to carry all this home from Hodgson Orthotics.

Socks

Got a proper stand for my liner.

My finished leg; the socket is a touch smaller and quite a bit
thinner than the first (temporary) one.

Got my second stump liner.

Chilling with my new friend.

2021-03-23

Physiotherapy.

Test run, behind the wheel with the prosthetic on. Seems doable.

2021-03-24

Made it to work.

2021-03-25

The invoice for my prosthetic.

My prosthetic.

Close ups of my prosthetic.

I call him "Been", which is Dutch for "leg".

My two feet.

Random pics.

2021-03-29

West Coast Retina Consultants. Dad got
a picture of me walking out.

2021-04-01

Evening change to slippers, without removing Been.

2021-04-02

Weighed Been; 2.1 kg (4.62 lb).

2021-04-03

Went to mom and dad's for Easter dinner; put on my hikers.

2021-04-28

Physiotherapy; the wobble has to go.

2021-05-30

Using up to 25 ply socks by the end of the day, so it is time for a new socket.

Fun fact: when I first started wearing Been, the days started in 3-5
ply socks and ended in 13-15 ply. Three months later I start at 10 ply
and end in 25 ply.

2021-06-03

Walked the full length of fhe parking lot at work. Not my furthest
walk as an amputee, but it was the most uneven and hilly.

2021-06-17

Hodgson. Casting for socket #2.

2021-07-06

Hodgson. Test fitting the second check socket.

2021-07-15

Cool shadow pics.

2021-07-19

Hodgson. End of week #2 of wearing check socket #2. All is good
so they poured the mold for the new socket, and tweaked the
height some more.

2021-07-26

Hodgson. Socket #2 ready for use.

My new trophy; the first of many.

2021-09-11

The weather had gotten colder, so time to start wearing pants.

2021-10-05

Hodgson. Been has been irritating me for about a week now, and is preventing
me from walking as much as I want to. Got some more shims put in the socket
as well as a new liner. Now he fits properly again.

2021-11-01

Hodgson. Casting for socket #3.

2021-11-13

2021-11-16

Hodgson. Check socket #3.

My "old" socket collection.

First socket.

Second socket.

Stump liner; new vs old.

2021-12-14

Hodgson. Socket #3. Love how they keep getting smaller.

2021-12-21

Hodgson. Getting a leg cover.

All done. I got this for fucnctional reasons; without structure, my
right pant leg sits funny and the end of it drags on the ground.

2022-01-21

Took my jeans to Tailored Flare in Burnaby to get a zipper
stitched in on the right inseam. Turned out pretty good.

2022-02-02

Some new reading material.

2022-04-29

Foot shell removal tool.

At Hodgson getting an adjustment.

All better.

Torque wrench.

2022-05-01

The tool works great.

My foot.
