Symptoms
(Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy)
Severe back pain started around one month prior to checking in to the hospital, which was ten months prior to being disgnosed. My lower back hurts when I sit or stand for more than 5-10 minutes. If I push it for 30-60 minutes, I need to take s break. The only relief I get is when I am laying down. If I sit for an hour or two, I start to feel exhausted. I have sat for as long as five hours (stood up a few times to move), but was very sore and tired the next day, so this is not sonething I can currently do on a regilar basis. |

Not sure on the connection to CIDP, but a week after checking into the hospital, I had a "bed sore" on my left heal, due to being immobile. That healed over time. As I started walking, I developed a blister on the outer ball of my left foot, which got infected and led to getting a partial foot amputation. Then, during that recovery, after two weeks, walking a little with an offloading shoe, I develop another "pressure wound" on my left heal, same area as before. Currently trying to figure that one out. |
Burning tears started at least six months before being diagnosed. I was told by my retina doctor that it was from dry eyes, and to "try these eye drops". They didn't help. I find that as soon as I feel burning tears, if I wipe them with a towel or kleenex, the tears and burning are gone. If I wipe with the back of my hand or sleeve, no bueno, the burning and tears continue for 5-10 minutes. Closing my eyes helps relieve the burn. |

I normally shave my head to #1 and noticed in my early days of being diagnosed, spots of my hair were growing back slower than other spots. After a few months my hair was growing back as normal. Not sure if this was CIDP or medication related. |

Five or six months prior to being disgnosed, I started having random throat issues.....sometimes when eating I would gag, or have dry heaves, and/or throw up. It felt like pressure in my throat, and like things were being forced up and constricting my throat. My doctor thought it was heartburn related. I used to have really bad heartburn, and this was not the same. He put me on Pantoprazole which didn't do anything, so switched to Dexilant. I checked in to the hospital a week later and was taken off the Dexilant. Dexilant takes around four weeks to start working. While in the hospital, the throat issues almost went away. I had random gaging, but didn't think much of it. Four months later, they come back with a vengance. All the same symptoms, and they continued on for weeks. The hospital put me back on Pantoprazole, which again made no difference. It got to the point where every moning (before breakfast) I would dry heave three or four times, throw up some stomache acid, and go about my day. When I had my first weekend pass at home, I had no symptoms. As soon as I was back in the hospital, they returned. After being released from the hospital, the symptoms were less frequent, but still there. My doctor put me back on Dexilant. The symptons continued to happen less frequently, and after around six weeks they went away completely. So far if has been around four months of no symptoms, and I stopped taking Dexilant around two months ago. |
