December 5/2002 @ Mt. Laughington

In Attendance:
Chris - Ford Bronco (blue)
Ed - Jeep YJ (black)
Chris F & Alfonso- Suzuki Sidekick (white)

I talked to Ed on Tuesday and he mentioned that him and a couple of friends were doing some exploring on Thursday. Being that I was
on vacation, I begged to tag along. We planned on a trail that branches off of Foley FSR and went up the North East side of Mt Laughington.

*The mountain names used in this article were derived from my
Backroad Mapbook. If anybody knows that I am incorrect,
please advise me so I can correct them.*

Pic05

We stopped for a quick scenery break.

 Pic06

Looking North East. I believe this is either
Williams Peak or Goetz Peak.

Pic07
Looking more North. I believe this is Welch Peak.

Pic08
We continue on.

Pic09
I believe the peak ahead is Baby Munday Peak.
We are hoping to get as close to it as possible.

Pic10
We continue on.

Pic11
We stopped at around 2000' for another scenery break.

Ed's turn.

Pic26
He approaches.

He crosses the creek.

Pic28
He flexes a bit for the camera.

Pic29
And he climbs out.

Pic30
Great, one down and how many more to go?

Pic31
The trucks pose for the camera.

Pic32
And another wash out.

Pic33
Chris F makes it no problem.

Pic34
Ed! Come on man, you can do it!

Pic35
Although me and Ed had no problems with these
washouts, Chris F quickly learned how to
maneuver his stock truck though them.

Pic36
Looking up at one of the creeks we had to cross.

Looking NorthEast.

Pic44
Chris F had to fight a little to get through this cross
ditch. Nice flex for a stock truck.

Chris F crossing a tricky washout.

Pic46
We found a nice sunny spot to stop for lunch.

Pic47
Nice picture.

Pic48
We continue on our way. Chris F gets hung up
with no where to go. I opted to use the new
winch for the first time to pull him out.

Pic49
Finally, some snow at 5000'.

Pic50
This is the end of the road.

Pic51
There are two very deep washouts within
30', plus a lot of large logs blocking the road.

Pic52
Big truck, little truck.

Pic53
This is as close as we made it to
Baby Munday Peak.

Pic54
Testing the zoom on the camera. This is a waterfall
lower down in the valley.

My trick mirror shot didn't quite turn out
the way I wanted it to.

One last shot of Welch Peak.
