We tried to get out last Sunday, but due to multiple problems we just
couldn't do it. So today we tried it again. We decided to check out the
Norrish Creek area as I had heard that you could get across to the
Chehalis/Harrison area. After checking out a few side roads that dead
ended, we found one that kept going for a while. Shortly we encountered
a rock slide that made the road a little unnerving. We decided to
dig, dig, dig and make it a bit safer. After a good 30 minute workout
we passed over it and continued on. We then came to a large washout
with some nice large rocks, but nothing that stopped us. After a few
more kilometers the road got extremely narrow, barely wide enough for
Doug and myself to drive on safely. Doug hiked up a bit and found that
the road got even narrower and felt that with the rainy conditions we
should turn around. We also decided that we should come back in the
spring to try it again.
After turning around Ed decided that it was time for him to head out,
as he had to meet a friend. Doug and myself stayed to keep exploring.
We
went down another road that crossed Norrish Creek and climbed up the
other side of the mountain. Here is where we encountered the narrow
washout of wood and debris that dented my rocker panel. Shortly after
this, we ran into another washout. This one was do-able with some work,
but we opted to leave it for another day. After looking at my map, this
appears to be the road that connects to Chehalis/Harrison.
From here we headed off on a few side trails, but all were dead ends.
At this point it was getting late so we decided to head home.
We stopped at the start of Norrish Creek Rd to air up. Once completed
Doug and myself were checking out my 'trail carnage' when we decided
to check out his truck. Surprisingly we found three dents, along with
the muffler. We both chuckled.
Again, another good day. A bit more damage than I would have liked, but
that is what it is all about!
We just drove through that. There
was one spot that we had to shovel
and dig a bit to give me and Doug
a bit of room.

Lovely day. It rained pretty much
the whole day.
I watched this happen, but at the time I didn't realize
damage was occurring. I was going through a tight spot
and some loose wood was pressing up against the body.
At the time I didn't think anything of it.
No big deal though. I had plans to trim
the rear quarters a bit anyways.
This one was a surprise, as I know it didn't happen the
same time as above the other side. The hole is about
3" diameter and goes right through. Looks like my
bodyman cut a corner or two when he did the truck.
Doug also got some minor damage. Here his
right rear rocker got a little massaging.
He lost his muffler somewhere. Luckily we
found it on the main road.
His left rear quarter also got some attention.
Even with rock sliders he suffered damage. By
the looks of this one, a branch must have come
up between the rocker and the the body.
If you have any comments, suggestions, or see any errors, please let
me know..... cbradley@telus.net
