GRTW

I haven't done much to Clifford since I bought him just over a year ago. I've been getting an itch to go wheeling lately, so I started working
on my "list of things to do". These things are items that I enjoy having in my truck when wheeling (CB, stereo, GPS, center console etc). I
also have to plate the floor for the bucket seats, see if my old T-Bird seats will bolt up, and some other odds 'n ends that will make driving
this truck more enjoyable. I'm hoping to have all these things done so I can go on a run in a few weeks. We'll see how things go.....

Seats unbolted and moved out of the way.

Lower dash removed.

Nice having 8' of parts storage.

It rained the other day, and I came home to find about an inch of water in the drivers floor pan. I noticed that the underlay was wet when
I pulled back the floor liner, and this is obviously why. Now I have a water leak to find.

Sized up my old center console.

I will have to modify the front of the console to clear the dash.

I will also have to notch the left side to clear the transfercase shifter boot.

I pulled the front part of the floor liner, as I noticed a leak on the drivers floor. Now to find it.

Relocated the tach; it was clamped around the steering column.

Installed a newer stereo. The auxillary audio jack is in the
rear, so I added a jack next to the stereo for easy access..

Left floor plated and painted to properly support the bucket seats.

Right floor plated and painted to properly support the bucket seats.

I poured about 2 litres of water on the windshield, but after an hour, there was nothing in the truck. I will have to resort to plan B,
which involves the hose and more time.

August 27/11

Today I worked on making my old center console fit.....

August 28/11

I only had a few hours to spare today, so I got my old overhead console installed.

I took a moment to see how my old subwoofer enclosure would fit.

There was a hump in the floor pan, so I had to remove this piece
of wood that was a spacer when installed in the Bronco.

Painted the mounting brackets for the overhead console.

Painted the overhead console.

Left and right mounting brackets.

Overhead console installed. I mounted the external CB speaker (was in the dash of the Bronco) in the center of the
console, firing down and rearward through the speaker grille. I still have to paint the front cover that encloses the CB.

September 3 & 4/11

I found the water leak; the blue lines show the path of the water.

I could feel water about half way up the panel that the PCM attaches to.

Removed the cowl.

On the far left of the cowl, there are a lot of factory seams. I couldn't
pin-point one spot, so I covered all the seams in urethane.

I also removed this panel and urethaned it.

And as an added meaure, I made a urethane dam, just in case any more
water got in. This will keep the water to the outer edge of the floor.

Painted the front of the sub enclosure.

The rear of the enclosure before paint.

Painted the rear of the enclosure and the trim ring of the sub (it was silver).

Sub enclosure freshened up.

Rear speakers installed.

Painted the seat belts.

Front part of the floor liner installed, along with the transfercase shifter boot.

Cowl installed, wiper arms painted.

Center console and lid painted.

September 5/11

Got the console installed.

I looked at my T-Bird seats, and it will take a bit of work to make
them  work. These old buckets will have to do me for now.

I still have to make a new piece to go around the shifter and house some
gauges and the power outlets, and a piece to fill in rearward of that..

I bolted the console down. I went all these years without it bolted down in the Bronco.

One minor casualty.

Two more bolts at the back.

Mounted up the CB antenna; still have to run power for the radio.

September 7/11

I picked up some Fia seat covers to spruce up the old blue
bucket seats. I also painted the lower side panels.

September 11/11

Got the "guage panel" made for the center console; this panel is easily removeable.

I put in the air pressure guage (for the future on-board air) and a volt guage. There are holes drilled below each
guage for future guage growth, and I put in an extra hole for another power outlet (between the two).

Painted the switch panel for the overhead console.

The factory exhaust hanger on the catalytic converter was
rusted and broken off, so I made a universal mount work.

I removed the factory mount from the frame so I could thread the stud to hold the new hanger.

September 13/11

When I moved the truck the other day, I almost burned my hand on this metal shift knob the previous owner had installed.

The fix was to swap out the shift lever for one with a factory knob.

September 24/11

Installed a Pop&Lock tailgate lock.

Un-locked.

Locked.

The handle as it is positioned now.

Installed plastic bed caps and bulkhead cap.

The tonneau cover sitting flat.

Made the last piece for the center console.

September 25/11

I couldn't find a matching power outlet.

Wired.

The broken drink holder was bugging me, so I got some super-glue and fixed it up.

Center console "building" all done; just have to hook up the wires.

October 2/11

Ran the cable for the GPS receiver.

GPS antenna receiver mounted.

RAM mount for the PDA/GPS cradle.

PDA/GPS cradle mounted in position.

Auxllary fuse panel and ground bar mounted to the right panel that is behind the kick-panel.

I stopped taking pictures as I ran some of the wiring; center and overhead console's to the right kick panel
(where the auxillary fuse panel will be), and ran a wire to the headlight switch for the gauge illumination.

October 8/11

Removed two rusted heat shields from the exhaust.

Bicylce brake lever that will be used as a hand throttle.

Ground cable installed to the auxillary ground bar.

Wires cut to length and ends attached.

Voltmeter and auxillary fuse panel power wires through the firewall .

Bracket for the hand throttle.

October 9/11

Auxillary fuse panel and ground bar installed and active.

Ignition on.

Wires cleaned up.

The previous owner tapped into the wiper motor harness for an ignition source for the
brake controller; I removed the controller and re-used the connector for my voltmeter.

Auxillary fuse panel wire going to the hot side of the starter solenoid.

Almost empty again.

Cable for the hand throttle hooked up.

Hand throttle.

I decided that this was the best way to run the cable.

CB radio tested and ready to go (SWR was the same as when in the Bronco).

Passenger side all back together.
