Tailgate Lock

Seeing as how the tailgate can be removed by one person in about 3 seconds, I wanted to put a lock on it. I liked the clean
look of the Bully one, so I ordered it in and it just sat on my parts shelf. So, 8 months later, here is the install.

Bully tailgate lock #LH-004.

Remove the tailgate liner.

Remove the access panel.

Remove the two 10mm nuts that hold the handle in place.

The stock handle out.

The locking handle.

New vs. old.

New handle in place.

How the handle looks when locked.

Unlocked.

When unlocked, the whole handle slides outwards.

The handle will lift this far before it engages the lock mechanism.

This is where it unlocks the tailgate.

The only drawback with this lock is that it has to be locked at all times, as the lock holds the handle in place.

Ever since installing the Pilot taigate lock, the fact that it always had to be locked bothered me.
I decided to change to a Pop&Lock tailgate lock.....

Pop&Lock #2300.

Locked.

Un-locked.

The handle sticks out a little further, but the fact that it can stay locked or unlocked makes it worth while for me.
