LED Interior Lighting

October 29/2010

I started converting to LED lighting. First to be swapped out were the footwell and rear dome lights/

I finally got the LED lights for the center dome lights, so in they go.....

The stock bulbs.

4 screws hold the light assembly together.

Putco #980112 9 LED kit.

The kit comes with all kinds of adapters for all kinds of factory bulbs.

A quick comparison of the LED vs stock light.

LED light in place.

Another comparison with the light assembly back together.

Both boards installed.

All assembled and one last bench test.

Installed back in the car, and boy are they bright. Almost too bright. Almost.

Decided to replace the vanity lights with LED's from Diode Dynamics.....

Wrong by application; called for 31mm, but should be 28mm.

The correct LED's.

I've been getting tired of the "blue" tinge that these LED's have, especially the center map lights, so I got some new one's from Diode Dynamics. After the install, the new LED's are whiter and
slightly brighter than the old one's, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Old LED's.

Old 9 LED boards and the new 12 LED boards.

The board should be mounted more forward than this for the best output
through the lens, but I will try this for now and see how it works.

Final test.

Showing the difference in colour; old on the left, new on the right.

All done.
