Shift Interlock

October 16, 2018

The other night, I was unable to put the car into gear. I knew of this probem, and finally got to use the bypass under the cap on the right side of the
shifter. When I got home, I pulled the top of the center console off and found the problem; all the wires at the connector to the interlock solenoid had
broke. Here is the fix.....

Problem found; not one wire connected.

All the wires broke.

Connector pin-out.

A co-worker got the terminals out for me; he used a thumbtack to depress the lock tab.

Found out that Pico makes this terminal; #612-14.

I tried to open the crimps on these terminals and attach new wires, but they are so small and hard to work on. "Plan B" was to get new terminals, but
couldn't get any before the weekend. "Plan C" it is.....

"Plan C" is a new connector from AC Delco, #PT3923. Cost $24, but will allow me to fix this today.

The plug comes with 6 wires; it must be used for other applications.

Removed this terminal as it is not needed.

Cut down to 8".

Re-used the lock tabs as the new connector didn't come with any.

All done. I looped the harness so it won't rock sided to sideat the connector, which is why the wires broke in the first place.
