Shift Kit

May 12, 2011

I've had this car for almost a year now, and a few months ago I got the dreaded P1811 engine code. If you don't know, this code can
arise from several issues, but commonly comes from a bad PCS (pressure control solenoid) in the transmission. The part isn't to expensive,
but you have to lower the left side of the motor and transmission to get at it, so it is labour intensive. A well known "band-aid" solution is to
install a shift  kit to speed up the shifts, thus eliminating the slow shifts that cause the computer to trigger the P1811 engine code.

Here are some of the resources that I used before doing this job.

Automotive Forums: 4T65E Trans Shift Hard, P1811 DTC
Grand Prix Forums: 4T65E Hard Shift-Solution

The easy way to work. Big thanks to Indir for doing the work.

Hopefully I don't end up like this guy.

Pan off and filter out.

Accumulator out.

TransGo Shift Kit #SK-4T65E.

Accumulator disassembled.

From here you just put in the new springs and spacer's and put it all back together.
