Transmission Cooler

July 30/2015

I have been meaning to install a transmission cooler for some time, as every summer I get to watch the fluid temperature get up as high as 210*F on a hot day.

These cars are known for having high transmission temperatures, so a cooler is a must do.

Well, this year we are having "warmer than normal" temperatures, so the transmission temperature is hotter than ever.

Transmission temperatures have ranged from 195*-221*F.

Outside air temperatures are typically 28*-34*F and higher

This is from last month, around 32*C outside; coolant 217*F, trans 215*F.

Two days ago, after 30 minutes of freeway driving then 30 minutes of stop-n-go driving; coolant 219*F, trans 219*F.

July 28, 10 minutes later, stop-n-go driving; coolant 208*F, trans 221*F.

Checking out the transmission cooler lines.

August 1/2015

This is after around 30 minutes of city driving; coolant 215*F, trans 204*F.

After a 10 minute stop and then 5 minutes of city driving; coolant 213*F, trans 208*F.

March 8/2016

Picked up a B&M 70264 cooler. I chose this model as it has "Low Temperature Bypass".
