After chatting with some friends, I changed my mind about trimming down
Super Duty body mounts to match the height of the urethane
ones. Why? The amount of work, but we also found that while the Super Duty
mounts measure out at 2 1/4" on the bench, on the truck
they came from, they compressed down to about 1 3/4". The urethane mounts
measure at 1 3/16", and the stock ones sat at about 1" on
the Bronco, so I figured that if the Super Duty mounts will compress that much, then I will take
the approximate 3/4" of lift and save some
time and work. I did have to shave down the shoulders on the bottom of them, but that was easy enough to do.
I had to work for it, but I finally got the last mount out. I used
one of the modified Super Duty mounts as a temporary support.
What is left of the left front cab mount.
The two front cab mounts with the Super Duty rubbers in place; with full weight on them,
they compressed to 1 15/16". I had to trim the bottom shoulder down to 1 3/4".
The two rear cab mounts with the Super Duty rubbers in place; with full weight on them,
they compressed to 1 15/16". I had to trim the bottom shoulder down to just over 1 1/2".
The second from the rear; you can see how
much higher the body is now sitting.
