Today I focussed on the rear corners, as they needed major work. Over the past few months I thought about all the ways to repair
this area, but the amount of work scared me. After talking to some friends
recently, it was discussed that I was overthinking things,
and a fairly easy repair could be done that wil last a lot longer than the rest of the truck.
The plan was simple; 3/16" plate around the mounts. I cleaned the area's
as best I could, but it was hard to get the grinder in there. I
got a few good spots
cleaned good, so I wasn't to worried about it. I used seam sealer to bond the plate to the truck, as I didn't need
anything solid or structural, but rather just to hold the plate in place
until the body mount was sinched down. It isn't pretty, but it will do
the job.
The right rear corner; extremely rotted.
The left rear corner. Not as bas, but it was getting there.
Left side with quick repair.
Right side with quick repair.
